The University of Texas at Austin's Jester West Residence Hall is a well-known dormitory on UT's campus. Per The University of Texas at Austin's Housing and Dining website, "The 14-story Jester West Hall, the largest of our residence halls, sits at the heart of campus’s south side, catty-cornered from Gregory Gym and the Perry–Castañeda Library. The hall’s appeal lies primarily in its convenient location inside the bustling hub of Jester Center, which teems with student activity, academic service centers and places to eat and hang out. Additional perks come in the hall’s social and diverse residential community, and modern updates to student rooms, laundry rooms and bathrooms." I lived here my freshman year while attending The University of Texas at Austin, and I overall had a good experience! Jester (for the most part) is clean & well-kept. I just remember the rooms & common areas being quite outdated and needing renovation. However, it's my understanding that there have been many updates to Jester since I lived here several years ago! Of note, this dorm is quite busy, as it's constantly bustling with students. This can mean some loud noises + disruptions at times. However, there are still many study spaces within Jester that make it feasible to get some space to work, and the dorm rooms themselves offer great space rest + spend time with peers. Again, my time at Jester was overall good (4-stars for my general experiences in this dorm when I attended UT Austin as a student)!

**A Wild Evening at Jester West Residence Hall** ⭐☆☆☆☆ (If you’re looking for some peace and quiet!) I recently had the “privilege” of staying at Jester West Residence Hall, and let’s just say, it was an experience I won’t soon forget—mostly because of the unexpected background noise! 1. **The Setting:** Jester West is known for being a bustling residence hall, full of students, and it looks lively on the outside. The communal areas are great for socializing, and it feels vibrant. But my stay quickly turned into a loud adventure! 2. **The Neighbors:** As the evening wore on, I noticed that the walls were a bit thinner than I’d hoped. What started as general chatter escalated into something far more… enthusiastic. Let’s just say, there was a lot of noise coming from the nearby rooms, and it wasn’t exactly a late-night study session! 3. **A Comedy of Sounds:** Initially, I tried to brush it off and focus on my own activities. However, the sounds escalated! It became nearly impossible to concentrate. Instead of a relaxing night, I found myself chuckling (and cringing) at the sheer volume and energy of my enthusiastic neighbors. 4. **The Atmosphere:** It felt like I’d stumbled into a movie scene. Friends outside the rooms were making jokes and laughing about the “activities” happening within the walls. It quickly became a bonding moment for those of us trying to ignore the passionate commotion! 5. **Final Thoughts:** If you’re looking for a peaceful place to study or rest, Jester West may not be the ideal choice—unless you’re prepared for some unexpected entertainment. Still, I have to hand it to the residents; their zest for life was palpable! In conclusion, while the experience was entertaining in its own way, it definitely made for an unforgettable night! If you stay at Jester West, just remember: keep your earplugs handy or join in the laughter—you might need both!

Lived here for about 2 years (2019-2021). It’s in a very convenient spot on main campus; close by to the Drag (Guadalupe) and to a lot of buildings that may have your classes. There were a lot of changes when I came last year, especially pricing. Pricing is a little high, but they did give us an option for unlimited swipes for the dining halls (J2 and Kin’s Dining).

Great hall. Great accommodations. Tough options for vegans. Dorm food doesn’t have healthy, less oily options for vegetarians 🌱. Hard working staff. Thank you for everything u do.

They have really updated this dorm since I went here! Furnishings are nice. Lots of study spaces all over this ridiculously huge center! Rooms have minifridges and microwaves. There are offices, classrooms, courtyards, restaurants, cafeterias, and convenience stores in this place. Other than class, you don't need to leave the dorm. There is NO open parking, just a newish garage that is too expensive for students. But really, you don't need a car at UT. Uber and Lyft come here for your convenience.
