This building ruined the skyline. Not to say its ugly, but that build it in the wrong place.

The residences at Allen: Because Who Needs Darkness, Anyway? If you’ve ever looked at the Houston skyline and thought, “Wow, this city could really use a giant glow stick,” good news. The Allen Tower heard you loud and clear. This beacon of overcompensation stands tall and proud, wrapped in enough LED lighting to guide aircraft from three counties over. Subtle? Never heard of her. The building practically screams, “Look at me!” as if we had a choice. It’s as if someone gave a toddler a lighting budget and said, “Go nuts.” And boy, did they. Every night it lights up like it’s auditioning to be Times Square South, but with none of the charm and all of the eye strain. Sleep? Good luck. Stargazing? Forget it. Privacy in your own home without feeling like you’re under stadium lights? Not anymore. But hey, at least The Allen is here to make sure you never forget it’s there, even if you desperately want to. Truly a gift to the city, if the city had specifically asked for a migraine.

Parking is a problem on this place. It took over an hour in line for valet parking. There was no space available for self parking.

Gorgeous place. I've been following the build and love the design. The pool area alone is a must. And such a choice location. The proximity to Buffalo Bayou and Downtown can't be beat.

Beautiful building, amazing lighting at night and this awesome view of the downtown is simply stunning. Either Residences at the Allen and the Thompson Hotel are so stunning. We loved the pool decking area and ate at Sol Siete, one of the best burgers in town. Congrats on this project

It is an impressive building, great views, nice restaurants, and the pool is a dream come true. When you have the chance, don’t hesitate to stay at the Thompson hotel to enjoy it all.
October 2024
Absolutely beautiful inside! Also, the amenities and restaurants are top tier. The building is beautiful and it's in an excellent location. It's right across the street from Buffalo Bayou Park and Trails with easy access to Eleanor Tinsley Park and a great dog park!

Another pocket of culture in Houston bringing fine dining and upscale convenience. It’s bright at night and a guiding light to an amazing community.

Can’t even look at Houston’s skyline because of the building’s hideous bright light. Eyes are literally hurting when I want to just enjoy the views of Houston Skyline. Please take down these lights!!!
May 2024
Irregular asymmetric facade. Looks like the architect was drunk when drawing lines on the side of the building. Should have made them walk a line before letting them design the building, because it looks horrendous.
May 2024
This building single handedly ruined Houston’s skyline.
May 2024
Ugliest tower in Houston. Terrible asymmetrical facade where the glass panels and metal bars are not aligned in rows, plus the tackiest light strips at night. Not sure how any of this passed the architect’s desk or the board of investors, it’s disturbing in both day and night.

What a sensational architecture! I wish a building like this could be realized in Vienna, Austria! Modern and unique! Congrats to the investors!

hideous light pollution
November 2023
This new building is, hands down, the most hideous building I have seen at night. It is a bright, white LED monstrosity that looks cartoonish in comparison to the rest of the downtown Houston skyline. When I bought my rooftop property, this was being built. I had no idea that they were going to light it with walmart-looking bright lights up and down the entire building. It contrasts against the rest of the skyline. If I could define "light pollution" with one picture, it would be this building.
October 2023
What a beautiful building. So elegant and we can’t wait to enjoy the Thompson hotel and restaurant to come !!
October 2023
Building looks great at night!! We need more lights on our downtown buildings.

Aside from it being a nuisance to the park goers. Not like Tinsley Park to have so much light pollution at night. Kills the entire vibe that weve enjoyed for years. What about its effect on the famous nocturnal bat colony. At least install a dimmer switch. No building in downtown shines as bright.
October 2023
I absolutely love the lights on the outside of this building. It looks amazing, really brings out the ambiance of downtown.
October 2023
Very pretty
September 2023
Ugly building that ruins the skyline view from the park.
September 2023
Have you heard of light pollution? This building is a complete eyesore at night. The bright lighting detracts from the peacefulness of the gorgeous Buffalo bayou park and one of the most beautiful and relaxing vistas we have in urban Houston. Shame on this building for ruining the ambiance. I expect this building will have hundreds of dead birds on its doorstep during peak migration. Shame.
September 2023
Whoever idea it was to use ultra bright lights needs to be fired... This looks hideous against the the Downtown skyline. This building would of been more suited for the Galleria / Uptown skyline.
July 2023
April 2023
Nothing this tall and eyesore should of been built in front of downtown views, especially being near where we have a our city 4th of July blocking the view for many Houstonians.
January 2023
Love the design of this building!
January 2023
December 2022
This building is an eyesore that obstructs the famous Memorial Drive view of downtown. I hope the building has a public observation deck when it’s finished to make up for this.
July 2022
Indeed an interesting and stunning project on an iconic Houston location. Developers are a mainland China development firm.
April 2022
Wonderful project!!!
